Dr. Tim Cummings is a strength coach, physical therapist, writer, speaker, and, along with his wife, Jess, the founder of Restore/Thrive.
Tim splits his time between helping athletes, parents, and coaches fix acute and long-standing orthopedic injuries and programming post-rehab training programs for individuals looking to get back to their active lifestyles after an injury. He received his Bachelors of Arts in Exercise Science from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2004, and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Southwest Baptist University in 2010. He was certified as a Titleist Performance Institute Certified Trainer in 2011. He was certified as an IMPACT Concussion Management Provider in 2012 he was the first physical therapist in Kansas City to be earn recognition as a MovNat certified trainer in 2014. He was the first physical therapist in Kansas City designated as a MobilityWOD Certified Practitioner in 2015.
Before starting his own physical therapy and performance practice, Tim practiced with the renowned Elite Physical Therapy and Integrative Medicine, recognized in the Kansas City metro as an innovative physical therapy practice. In his current practice, Tim continues to practice performance-based orthopedic physical therapy, with a focus on return to work and return to play training.
Tim’s clients include recreational, high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, Post-Concussion Syndrome patients, CrossFit athletes, Powerlifters, obstacle course racers, and law enforcement, first responder, and military personnel.
Tim’s background as an athlete includes a history of competitive baseball, basketball, cross-country running, and performance weightlifting. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Jess and their three children, Aiden, Evelyn, and Connor, weightlifting, golfing, obstacle course racing, competitive eating, and wrestling with his kids.
Dr. Jess Cummings
Dr. Jess Cummings is an outpatient orthopedic physical therapist and the co-founder of Restore/Thrive.
Since 2010, Jess has practiced professionally providing one-on-one care to patients with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, most recently at Elite Physical Therapy and Integrative Medicine. She has logged over 400 hours of continuing education with an emphasis on differential diagnosis, manual therapy and functional exercise. She specializes in treating chronic spine pain and injuries to the extremities. She received her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois in 2007 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Southwest Baptist University in 2010.
Jess’ clients include acute and chronic spine and extremity injuries, recreational and competitive, athletes, and working mom’s like her who care about setting a great example for their kids. She is passionate about teaching her clients about integrative medicine and lifestyle management to optimize their health and improve their healing time.
Jess’s athletic background is as a power athlete, playing club and high school volleyball while setting several school weight lifting records. Jess loves time with her husband Tim and their three children, Aiden, Evelyn, and Connor. When she’s not busy feeding four hungry kids, she enjoys weight training, sand volleyball, reading, and traveling.
Dr. Patrick Chandler,
PT, DPT, CSCS, CF-L1
Dr. Patrick Chandler brings a diverse skill set to the Restore/Thrive team.
In addition to his training as a doctor of physical therapy, Patrick is the former head strength and conditioning coach for Rockhurst University, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and a CrossFit Level 1 certified coach.
Patrick will be seeing clients in our satellite location, inside the Kansas Athletic Club in south Overland Park, Kansas.
Patrick and his wife, Sadie, along with their dogs Wilbur and Goose, live in Overland Park.
Katie Lundy is the office manager for Restore/Thrive.
A Kansas City-native, Katie went to Notre Dame de Sion High School and graduated from Xavier University with a major in Psychology and minor in Communications. She made the Dean's List all four years at Xavier and was a member of the Psi Chi Honors Society.
Katie is the point of contact to answer all of your scheduling questions and discuss the entire spectrum of Restore/Thrive's services.
Katie's athletic background includes basketball, softball, and volleyball. She loves spending time researching and learning about women's health and nutrition, cooking, watching the Chiefs and Royals, going to concerts, and game nights with friends.
Katie, her husband Brackon, and their 1-year-old Havanese puppy Oscar live in Overland Park and are expecting their first baby in May 2020.
